Environmental Ethics conference was supported by Environmental Investment Centre, University of Tartu Centre for Ethics, Estonian Naturalists Society.
The book is the collection of the environmental ethics conference “Values and Conflicts in Environmental Ethics” that took place from 28th to 29th of October 2005 and was organized by Estonian Naturalists Society, Jakob von Üexküll Centre and the Centre for Ethics of the University of Tartu. The bilingual (English and Estonian) book contains presentations and theses given by local and guest speakers.
The purpose of the conference and the theses collection was not to introduce a field that has been “completed”, and its terminology – a task that it cannot fulfill well – but rather to open up the field and meaning of environmental ethics across disciplinary boundaries, and to the non-academic public, creating an opportunity for collision and intertwining that could create enough potential to shift some boundaries that have become too rigid.
